KKU Faculty of Science Hosts 28th Annual Conference, Bridging Science and Business

 

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University (KKU) held its 28th annual academic conference on March 8, 2026, focusing on connecting scientific research with the business world. The full-day event brought together over 300 students, faculty, and staff to showcase student research.

 

Associate Professor Dr. Rojana Burakham, the Associate Dean for Research, delivered the opening address. The conference served as an academic forum for fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students from the Faculty of Science, as well as participants from other institutions, to present their research findings.

 

 

A total of 158 research projects were presented through oral presentations and poster sessions. The research was organised into three main disciplines: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics and Statistics. Throughout the conference, 68 projects were presented orally, while 90 projects were displayed as posters.

A key feature of the event was a special lecture titled “The Business Side of Science,” delivered by Mr. Priyasith Chiaravapi, Managing Director of Axo Chemicals & Services Co., Ltd. As a KKU alumnus from the 28th graduating class of the chemistry program, Mr. Chiaravapi shared his experiences in the chemical industry, offering students practical insights into applying scientific knowledge in a real-world business context.

The conference concluded with an awards ceremony in the evening. Assistant Professor Dr. Angkana Boonyued, Dean of the Faculty of Science, presented awards for outstanding and excellent research presentations in each category.

Organizers stated the event reflects the faculty’s commitment to preparing students to use scientific knowledge to create economic value. The goal is to produce graduates who can effectively link their research to practical applications, contributing to the nation’s sustainable development.
