Faculty of Engineering, KKU, Discusses Collaboration on Automation and AI with ThaiNamthip

Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Engineering is poised to establish a strategic partnership with ThaiNamthip Corporation to advance industrial technology, workforce development, and operational efficiency.

On 22 January 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University (KKU), hosted a consultation meeting with ThaiNamthip Corporation Limited (Public Company Limited) to outline the direction for future collaboration in the fields of Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This partnership is designed to focus on developing manufacturing processes, upskilling the workforce, and enhancing technological capabilities to align with the requirements of the industrial sector.

Participants from the Faculty of Engineering included Assistant Professor Panupong Wanjuntug, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer; Assistant Professor Kritsanarach Nitisiri, Assistant Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations; Associate Professor Tana Radpukdee, Head of the Automated Systems, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering Programme; and Lecturer Nattapong Ruenrudeepan from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. They were joined by executives and technical representatives from ThaiNamthip Corporation Limited.

The discussions centred on defining key areas of collaboration, particularly the application of automation and AI in manufacturing environments. Topics included AI-driven production efficiency, data analytics, and predictive maintenance systems to reduce machinery downtime and enhance operational reliability. The meeting also explored curriculum integration, industry-based study visits, laboratory collaboration, and the use of Maker Spaces to ensure that academic training aligns closely with real-world industrial applications.

In addition, both parties discussed human resource development and the creation of long-term strategic cooperation. These initiatives encompass talent identification and development, internships and joint projects, the design of professional staff training, reciprocal site visits, and the co-development of research and innovation. This comprehensive plan aims to foster a robust and sustainable partnership between the academic and industrial sectors.
