Associate Professor Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, together with the University’s executive team, attended commemorative activities marking the 33rd anniversary of the Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, KKU. The celebration was held on the morning of 30 December 2025 under the theme “33 Years of the Sirikit Heart Center of Royal Benevolence: Continuing the Royal Vision, Creating Value for Thai Hearts.”
The Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast was established in accordance with the royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, to serve as a world-class center for the treatment of heart diseases for the people of the Northeastern region. Her Majesty The Queen Mother graciously presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony of the building on the 19th. December 1992, and has been providing services as a refuge for the people continuously until its 33rd anniversary this year. Currently, its main mission is as a Medical Excellence Center, focusing on the treatment of complex heart and vascular diseases, producing specialized medical personnel, and conducting international innovative research.
The Auspicious Ceremony to Pay Tribute to His Majesty’s Great Kindness and Grace In the morning at 7:00 a.m., Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul, the president of Khon Kaen University, led the administrative team in a merit-making ceremony with alms offerings to 34 monks at the front courtyard of the Samrit Phra Haritthai. (East side adjacent to Mittraphap Road)
Then, at 7:09 a.m., the ceremony of meditation was attended to offer royal merit and pay homage to the great kindness and benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, with the kind presence of Luang Por Yuwin Phuripanyo as the presiding monk.
Participation in this anniversary celebration not only marked an important milestone for the Sirikit Heart Center but also reaffirmed Khon Kaen University’s enduring commitment to advancing healthcare, innovation, and education in alignment with the royal vision of creating sustainable value and well-being for the hearts of all Thai people.
