Faculty of Education, KKU, Welcomes Delegation from Souphanouvong University, Lao PDR, for Knowledge Exchange on Sustainable Development

November 26, 2025 – The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, welcomed a delegation of 25 administrators, faculty members, and Master’s degree students from the Faculty of Education, Souphanouvong University, Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The delegation was on a courtesy visit and academic exchange under the theme “Sustainable Development.” The study visit aimed to strengthen academic and research capabilities, as well as to enhance institutional collaboration. The welcome was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsawan Vongthatam, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, and expert faculty members. The delegation from Lao PDR was led by Dr. Thongthiane Vathanavong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Souphanouvong University, accompanied by faculty and Master’s degree students.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug delivered a welcoming address and presented an overview of the faculty, highlighting its vision to become a leading ASEAN institution that creates educational innovations to address sustainable development. He noted that this exchange marks another step in driving academic and research cooperation. The Dean also delivered a special lecture on “Innovative Education” to share new educational concepts and innovations.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsawan Vongthatam gave a special lecture on the “innovation ecosystem” and methods for instilling research values to create innovation among students, aiming to equip graduates with the skills of an innovator ready to face future challenges.

The event featured an intensive academic exchange, including a joint workshop for Master’s degree students. This session served as a platform to exchange experiences on curricula and teaching management at the Master’s level, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattapon Meekaew, Assistant Dean for Network Management and International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angkana Tungkasamit, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montha Chumsukon. The discussion aimed to build networks and exchange research ideas. Furthermore, a “Showcase of the Faculty of Education’s Innovations” was presented by Mr. Chinnapat Chanruang, and a lecture on a “Platform for Producing Teaching Media with AI” was given by Dr. Samart Singhma, providing the delegation from Souphanouvong University with examples of technology application to enhance teaching and learning quality.

Welcoming the delegation from Souphanouvong University is considered a move to drive educational leadership at the ASEAN level and develop international academic networks. This collaboration aims to jointly produce quality graduates and create beneficial educational innovations for society, sharing knowledge and innovations to strengthen the region’s education sector. It also supports the Sustainable Development Goals by creating partnerships to achieve the goal of equitable, quality education.
