On 22 November 2025, Assoc. Prof. Suthin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, represented Khon Kaen University (KKU) at the 12th Anniversary celebration of National Pingtung University (NPTU), Taiwan. He also attended the congratulatory ceremony and served as a witness to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Khon Kaen University (signed by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President) and NPTU (signed by Professor Robert Y.S. Chen, President).
📌 Khon Kaen University—through the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Medicine—has previously initiated academic collaboration with relevant faculties at NPTU. The signing of this university-level MoU will deepen collaboration and expand the scope of joint initiatives in the coming years.
📌 Over the past year, the Faculty of Economics sent 3 students for cooperative education at the College of Management, NPTU, and an additional 2 students this second semester. NPTU has generously provided free accommodation for the interns. Furthermore, the Dean held discussions with NPTU executives and faculty members to expand cooperation in areas such as student exchanges, hosting NPTU students for internships at KKU, staff exchange, online guest lectures, joint research and publications, and the development of Dual Degree programmes.
📌 Potential Dual Degree collaboration models include:
> 🎓 Faculty of Economics students: studying 2.5 years at KKU and 1 year at NPTU to receive degrees from both institutions (e.g., Economics at KKU + International Business at NPTU).
🎓 NPTU students: studying 3 years at NPTU and 1 year at KKU to obtain a Dual Degree as well.
📌 These initiatives are expected to strengthen the global competitiveness of KKU economics graduates, enabling them to pursue careers in Taiwan and other English-speaking markets, while enhancing their readiness for the international labour force.
