13 November 2025 – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), launched the “Road to Physics: Path to Physics Studies #2” camp, held from 13 to 16 November 2025 at Wittayawipas 1 Room, Wittayawipas Building, Faculty of Science. Associate Professor Somnuek Worawiset, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, presided over the opening ceremony, and Professor Supreedee Phinisthuntra, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Physics, delivered the welcoming address. More than 200 high school students and Physics students participated in the activity, which aimed to inspire them and shift their attitude towards learning Physics to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Professor Supreedee Phinisthuntra, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Physics, commented on the camp’s objectives, stating: “We focus on student-centred learning, where the instructor shifts their role from a knowledge provider to a learning partner. This approach stimulates systematic thinking processes and fosters a positive attitude towards studying Physics through diverse learning resources and practical experiments.”
The camp also seeks to inspire students to pursue higher education and adjust their perception of Physics studies, encouraging them to think critically and express themselves academically correctly. It aims to develop practical Physics skills and enhance leadership and teamwork abilities.
Participants were encouraged to realise the importance of Physics as a fundamental basis for developing the technology and innovation crucial for national development. Professor Supreedee acknowledged that Physics is often perceived as a difficult field with limited job prospects. However, he stressed that Thailand currently faces a critical shortage of qualified personnel in Physics, a deficit that impacts the country’s competitiveness and capacity for advanced technological development.
Professor Supreedee concluded that hosting this camp reflects the commitment of the Department of Physics and the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University to cultivate high-quality human resources in science, thus addressing the nation’s needs in the knowledge-based economy era. The initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal of Quality Education, establishing a society of sustainable learning and innovation.
