Khon Kaen University Honors 264 Retirees in “Journey to Retirement: A Proud Endeavor” Ceremony

Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently held its annual “Journey to Retirement: A Proud Endeavor” ceremony to express gratitude and honor 264 retiring personnel. The event, which took place on September 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center, recognized both academic and support staff for their dedicated service and continuous contributions to the university.

The ceremony aimed to foster beautiful memories and strengthen the bond between the retirees and the institution, even after their official departure. Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, presided over the event, joined by executives, faculty members, and staff.

In his address, President Panthongviriyakul extended his appreciation to all 264 retirees, acknowledging their full commitment and continuous efforts until their last day of service. “This event is organized to thank all academic and support staff who have contributed to Khon Kaen University with their full capabilities,” he stated. He praised the retirees for their time, physical, and mental dedication, emphasizing that even though they would no longer be performing duties at the university, they would remain part of the KKU family. He expressed hope that they would return to visit and share their experiences with younger generations, wishing them good health and happiness.

Associate Professor Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, D.D.S., speaking on behalf of the retirees, thanked the university for the opportunity to serve society. She highlighted the collective spirit of service instilled at KKU, citing the university’s achievement of the Thailand Quality Class Plus (TQC Plus): Societal Contribution award in 2024, making it the first university in Thailand to receive such recognition. Dr. Pitiphat emphasized that this award not only validated current management but also honored the sacrifices of past and present personnel who have continuously upheld the mission of social service. “We, as retirees, feel honored and immensely proud to have been part of this great journey,” she remarked, adding that while their work might conclude, the bond and spirit of social service fostered by KKU would remain with them, and they would continue to share experiences and encourage younger colleagues.

Mr. Seksit Sungkiri, a medical science expert from the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, also shared his sentiments. He expressed gratitude to Khon Kaen University, referring to it as a “brick-colored home” that served as their workplace, residence, and place of relaxation, bringing them happiness, progress, value, and dignity. He thanked the university for its continuous support, providing opportunities for them to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. Mr. Sungkiri also acknowledged his colleagues for their encouragement, advice, and creation of a warm working environment that helped overcome challenges and achieve goals. “Every smile, every encouragement, has been a driving force in our work,” he said, concluding by thanking everyone for their kindness, warm friendship, and the beautiful memories they shared.

The ceremony, which also included a traditional Bai Sri Su Kwan blessing, served as a tribute to the retirees’ unwavering dedication and commitment to the institution, aiming to ensure that the relationship between the university and its former personnel continues into the future.
