Khon Kaen University Upskills Government Executives in AI for Modern Risk Management

BANGKOK – Khon Kaen University’s Academic Service Center has launched a training program designed to equip senior public sector officials with essential skills for navigating modern organizational challenges, emphasizing the use of Generative AI in strategic decision-making.

The course, titled “Risk Management and Internal Control for Public Sector Executives,” was held from August 13-15, 2025, at the SD Avenue Hotel in Bangkok. It brought together high-level executives from government agencies across the country for an intensive three-day workshop.

The program featured three distinguished speakers. Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Digital at Khon Kaen University, led a session on applying Generative AI for risk analysis and prediction. He was joined by Jiraporn Sumetheeprasit from the Defense Technology Institute’s Risk Management Subcommittee, who spoke on managing organizational risks in uncertain conditions, and Thanapol Komarakul Na Nakorn, the Deputy Auditor General, who shared his expertise on internal controls and public sector regulations.

“In an era driven by data and technology, traditional risk management may no longer be sufficient,” stated Asst. Prof. Denpong. “Khon Kaen University recognizes the importance of new tools like Generative AI to help public sector leaders make more accurate and comprehensive data-driven decisions. This can significantly enhance the efficiency and transparency of government operations.”

Over the three days, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum covering risk management frameworks, assessment, and internal controls. The training included practical case studies to ensure officials could apply the knowledge directly to the context of their own agencies. The ultimate goal is to elevate public services and improve budget management in line with good governance principles.

This training initiative is part of Khon Kaen University’s “Social Devotion” mission, reflecting its commitment to developing the nation’s personnel and contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
