KKU Advances Curriculum Innovation with Project-Based and Sandbox Learning

Khon Kaen University, through its Division of Education and Digital, organized a seminar and study visit on curriculum innovation during August 18–19, 2025, in Bangkok. More than 30 participants joined, including members of the Academic Council, curriculum review committees, and executives from teaching and learning innovation units.

The seminar focused on exchanging perspectives and strategies for updating curricula to meet global changes and future skill demands. Discussions highlighted:

  • Aligning curricula with future skills such as analytical thinking, creativity, leadership, and digital literacy

  • Integrating soft skills and ethics into academic programs

  • Strengthening graduate tracking systems and aligning curricula with labor market needs

  • Enhancing research standards and developing faculty capacity in line with international benchmarks

Panel sessions also emphasized the evolving role of faculty members as facilitators of learning, moving beyond knowledge transmission to co-creation of knowledge with students. Technology and AI integration, alongside Project-Based Learning and Sandbox Learning, were identified as key approaches to fostering well-rounded, innovative graduates.

Study visits to Srinakharinwirot University and Chulalongkorn University provided practical insights into interdisciplinary international program design, faculty development under global standards, and creating learning environments that prepare students as Global Citizens through projects, international internships, and community engagement.

The outcomes of this seminar and study visit not only enhanced KKU’s curriculum review process but also inspired the development of modern, flexible curricula that nurture creativity, leadership, and readiness for the global workforce.
