Khon Kaen University has introduced an initiative to strengthen its human capital and advance toward becoming a world-class research university by launching the first cohort of the program “Managerial Competency and Future Skills Development for Junior Executives.” The program aims to equip emerging leaders with essential skills for the digital era and enhance their capacity to implement the university’s strategic plan effectively.
The opening ceremony was held on August 4, 2025, at the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN. The training is organized by the Human Resources Division, Office of the President, and is designed for junior executives—section heads and acting heads—from various university units. Thirty participants are enrolled in this inaugural class. Asst. Prof. Pattarawit Polpinit, Ph.D., Vice President for Human Resources, presided over the opening session and also served as a speaker.
In his remarks, Asst. Prof. Pattarawit highlighted the university’s strong commitment to advancing its position as a leading research institution under its 2026–2029 strategic plan. A key priority within this framework is human resource development to ensure that staff possess the competencies required to navigate the challenges of the digital era and translate strategic goals into actionable outcomes. This program is structured to elevate managerial capacity while fostering future-ready skills essential for organizational transformation.
The curriculum includes six core modules focusing on critical leadership competencies such as visionary leadership, team collaboration, motivational strategies, and adaptability to change. Participants will also engage in learning exchange sessions with model units specializing in quality assurance, as well as hands-on workshops designed to strengthen networks and encourage the practical application of knowledge aligned with the university’s SMART KKU values.
The first two sessions, held on August 4 and 5, covered highly relevant topics. On the opening day, Asst. Prof. Pattarawit delivered a lecture on “Visionary Leadership: University Direction, Values, and Governance,” followed by a session on “Translating University Strategy into Practice,” presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitipat, former Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. The second day featured sessions on “Leadership and Collaboration” and “Inspiring Leadership and Emotional Expression,” facilitated by Dr. Bussagorn Leejoeiwara and her team.
The program consists of six sessions running from August 4 to September 4, 2025. Participants are required to complete post-session assessments for every module, and those who fulfill all requirements will receive a certificate at the closing ceremony on September 4, 2025.
