July 27, 2022 – Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University organized a workshop on: “Producing High-Quality Organic and Bio-organic Fertilizers from Local Organic Materials”, another activity under the U2T Bio-Circular Green Economy Project. The workshop was run at the Dong Kheng Sub-district Administrative Organization, Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen. The objectives were to increase the efficiency and competitive competency in bio-circular green economy in the area of the sub-district, with the use of technological and innovation knowledge.
Asst. Prof. Tanabhat-Sakorn Sukitprapanon”, Ph.D., a lecturer of the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University is the consultant who follows up the work of the project at Dong Kheng Sub-district, Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen.
The workshop was organized because the prices of fertilizers at present increase, resulting in the increase of production costs of the farmers. The sub-district farmers, therefore, wanted to add to their knowledge in making fertilizers that are of high quality and efficiency, so that their costs would reduce and at the same time, soil fertility would be increased.
Asst. Prof. Tanabhat-Sakorn Sukitprapanon, Ph.D., a lecturer of the Department of Soil Science; Miss Sujittra Pananto, a professional agricultural officer and Mr. Yuthanan Nonseelad, an agricultural officer of the Land Development Group under the Office of Land Development Area 5, joined in running the workshop and the field practice.
The Project expects that the benefits will be for all and the farmers in the area will be able to help themselves by reducing the costs. The knowledge obtained can also be applied to produce high quality organic fertilizers in the sub-district in the future.
The event was honored to have Mr. Pinaitorn Mahesakkakul, President of Dong Kheng Sub-district Administrative Organization to welcomed the participants and coordinated in many things until the workshop and the project has been effectively completed.
