Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn confers degree certificates upon the 2020 graduates of Khon Kaen University

Sunday December 13, 2020 – His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn, King Rama X, assigned Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to confer degree certificates to the 2020 graduates of Khon Kaen University at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center of Khon Kaen University. Today, the graduates receiving the degree were from Faculties of Agriculture, Education, Public Health, Engineering, Nursing, Technology, Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Economics, Medicine, Dentistry, Business Administration and Accountancy, Law, and International College, totaling 4,450 graduates.

Her Royal Highness the Princess’ car arrived at the Golden Jubilee Center at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Sattha Khotchapalayuk, Khon Kaen Vice Governor; Dr. Tej Bunnag, Vice President of the Khon Kaen University Council; Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Dr. Uanjit Panthongviriyakul, the wife of the President; University Council members and Khon Kaen University administrators welcomed Her Royal Highness in front of the Convention Center and invited HRH into the ceremonial room.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, Vice President for Education and Academic Services presented HRH the ceremonial brochure. Dr. Tej Bunnag, Vice President of the Khon Kaen University Council presented to HRH the introduction to the ceremony and asked Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University to report on the number of graduates this year. Next, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn conferred certificates on 3 monks, and honorary doctoral degrees, honorary professorship award, outstanding alumnus award, Sri Modindaeng awards, and Sri Kalaphruek awards to the following people:

Honorary Doctoral Degrees:

  1. Professor Emeritus Dr. Kasem Vadhanachai, M.D. – an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Medicine
  2. Dr. Taweesilp Vidsanuyothin, M.D. – an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Public Health
  3. Mr. Veerathai Santipraphop – an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Economics
  4. Associate Professor Weerawan Sritisarn – an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Architecture
  5. Mr. Assawin Techajaroenvikul – an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Industrial Engineering

Professor Emeritus Award:

Professor Dr. Suchat Paholphak, M.D. – in the field of Psychiatry

Outstanding Alumnus Awards:

  1. Mr. Amporn Pinasa
  2. Mr. Kobchai Sangsitthisawat

Next, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn conferred degree certificates to the 2020 graduates of Khon Kaen University and gave the following speech to the graduates: “His Majesty the King has assigned me to represent His Majesty in the Degree Conferral Ceremony of Khon Kaen University this year. We congratulate the honorary awardees of degrees and prizes, and all of the graduates for their success.

The success of the graduates comes from the wish and expectation of everyone, not only from the graduates themselves. These people, your family, professors, and your loved ones wanted to see your success and are proud of you. For the graduates, who have put your effort in the studies until you are successful today, must be expecting success in the future life. Therefore, I hope that you will be determined to utilize the educational success as a basis for building more success in your life. Use the capabilities and all of the traits developed in your occupation, bring benefits and happiness to yourself, your family, the society, and the country. If you are able to do so, then you will be truly successful.

In the academic year 2019-2020, 8,026 students are receiving the degree certificates. The number includes: 255 at the doctoral degree level, 157 at the graduate diploma level, 981 at the masters’ degree level, and 6,633 at the bachelors’ degree level. The Royal Degree Conferral Ceremony is scheduled on December 13 and 14, 2020. On Monday December 14, 2020 the conferral of degree certificates will be for the awardees of doctorate degrees, the masters’ degrees, the graduate diplomas, the College of Graduate Study in Management, the College of Local Administration (Masters Degree level), Faculties of Associated Medical Science, Architecture, Fine and Applied Arts, and Interdisciplinary Sciences.
