KKU trains personnel in the approaches for reporting complaints related to officials’ corruptions and illegitimacy

November 17, 2020, 13:30 p.m., at Sirikunakorn Room 3, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University – The Law Division conducted a workshop in the understanding and in the approaches to be taken when officials are involved in corruptions and illegitimacy. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the opening session. Ajarn Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs gave the special talk. Over 150 people attended including a number of administrators and staff.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has produced an e-system for reporting the cases of officials’ corruption or misconduct. The Office of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation by the Anti-Corruption Center thus informed Khon Kaen University to update the information and use the electronics system for reporting the cases of officials’ corruption or misconduct made by PACC. Khon Kaen University is to begin using this system from the month of October. PAAC requires all organizations to make a report on the fifth of every month along with a progress report every 7 and 37 days. Then a summary of work will have to be completed through the PACC’s e-system. This workshop was thus held to make officers involved understand the procedure and approach for reporting the corruptions and illegitimacy. It was hoped that the administrators and staff will obtain useful information from this training and come up with effective practices for the e-reporting.

Ajarn Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs, who gave a special talk on this occasion, said that the workshop is to make those involved understand the approaches to report the complaints of official’s corruptions and misconducts, so that they would be able to accurately and effectively use the knowledge related to laws and regulations on such complaints in their work and would be able to report the work efficiently and on time.

Khon Kaen University has laid the approaches for the practice that respond to the policy of the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC). For effective operations in this regard, all working organizations under KKU should follow the following processes:

1. Investigate and report the complaints regarding corruptions or misconduct of officials every month starting from October, 2020. If there is a complaint, then a report shall be made with details according to the form given and submitted to the university through the Law Division within the third of every month. For example, if there are complaints received from the 1^st of November to the 30^th of November, then a report must be submitted within the third of December, or the complaints during December shall be reported by the third of January.
2. In case there is a complaint as in No. 1, a progress report of the operation taken on the matter shall be submitted within 7 days and 37 days as of the date of receiving that complaint, with a summary of the operation taken made and submitted to the university.
3. In case the faculty or organization has no report of such case, the university shall conclude that there is no complaint during that month.

4. An officer of the respective faculty or organization shall be assigned to coordinate this matter. The name of the officer is to be submitted to the Law Division for recording in the system. The practices will be in accordance with the approaches and system stipulated by the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), which are made known to all at this workshop.
