The mega-event: Khon Kaen University for the Community under the KKU CSV Project is going out to serve the community in health care, art and cultural performances, promotion of community products and more at Khon Kaen Railway Station.

September 2, 2020 at Sirikunakorn Room, 3rd Floor, Office of the President – Khon Kaen University met the press to release news on KKU CSV 2020 Project in which the University is collaboratively providing values and assistance to the society. Ajarn Natsamol Tanakulrangsarit, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs of Khon Kaen University represented the university to welcome the press. Over 100 people, including administrators, staff, and news reporters attended.

The mega-event: Khon Kaen University for the Community under the KKU CSV Project 2020 will be held on Wednesday September 9, 2020 from 09:00 a.m., to 16:00 p.m. at Khon Kaen Railway Station. The event answers KKU mission in academic service towards the community. This time, emphasis will be on building common values, instilling and raising awareness in social dedication through collaboration among Khon Kaen University folks. The knowledge, determination and expertise will efficiently be transferred towards the society.

Ajarn Natsamol Tanakulrangsarit, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs revealed, “Khon Kaen University for the Community” mega-event this year is the biggest ever of its kind. It is organized under the dedication strategy related to community and the people. This is the Strategy No. 1.4 of KKU in academic service transformation through the creation of new academic service projects that involve cooperation of lecturers, staff members and students, with an aim to solve social problems and develop the community. Over 20 organizations from outside and inside KKU join as a network in carrying out this project, making it the greatest event ever. Another objective is to continuously upgrade the quality of life of people, carry out research, apply knowledge obtained from site work to improve the society according to the university’s policy. The 2020 KKU CSV offers the following services:  basic physical check-up, health consultation, measuring subcutaneous fat, influenza vaccination (elderly only), mammogram by Srinagarind Hospital; screening chronic renal disease, giving information related to kidney disease by the Northeast Prevention of Chronic Renal Disease Project; screening liver fluke disease by urine antigen by Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute; mental health consultation, tension, depression for all age groups and dementia in the elderly by Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine; oral health check-up, tooth extraction and giving dental health care information by Faculty of Dentistry; heart checking by Queen Sirikit Heart Center, Northeast; providing knowledge about preparation before anesthesia, pain releasing or acupuncture by Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine;  Rabies vaccination, ticks and fleas removal for pets by Animal Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; receiving blood donation by Blood Bank, Srinagarind Hospital.

The event will also feature exhibitions on KKU Library Book Exchange – a meeting point for reading lovers by KKU Library; law consultations by Division of Law, Office of the President; training in news reporting; music and singing shows; color painting for children by the Community Radio Network; selling goods of the communities under the poverty mitigation project of KKU; drum performance by students of Faculty of Architecture at the closing ceremony together with performance by Pong Lang Sinsai Band, the winner band in the 2020 Royal Award and music show by students of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.

Khon Kaen University sees the importance of people’s health and therefore will be providing health care services free of charges by various medical organizations in the university. The event of course will make certain measures are strictly taken against Covid-19. So it is safe!
