The integration of 3 disciplines, 6 courses of KKU for the development of new generation with 3G Governance in the 21st century
On November 21, 2019 at Smart Classroom of the College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University, deans from each of 6 faculties or 3 disciplines – 1) Health Sciences consisting of Faculty of Public Health led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wongsa Laohasiriwong; 2) Sciences and Technology consisting of Faculty of Agriculture led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Jothityangkoon, Faculty of Technology led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornthap Thanonkeo, and Faculty of Science led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiat Srijaranai; and 3) Social Sciences consisting of Faculty of Law led by Asst. Prof. Kittibodee Yaipool, and the College of Local Administration (COLA) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supawatanakorn Wongthanavasu – agreed to join development plan for “new Thai generation in the 21st century.” With variety of knowledge and theories applied to Thai context to develop “social innovation” that can enhance national competitiveness, new generation of Thai people will have 3 qualities – 1) ability to “develop knowledge from the past further” or realization of cultural roots, way of life, and diversity of Thai natural resources; 2) public consciousness when working with other people and “change the present” to solve inequality problems; and 3) potential for “new value creation for the future.”
Signing the MOU is considered as an official collaboration of the 6 faculties. All parties have common vision which is seeing the importance of creating graduates with academic potential of interdisciplinary integration. The 6 faculties are ready to develop teaching and learning approaches, offer variety of courses with modern and high standard curricula, which are beneficial to students’ academic potential and job opportunities. Smart Citizen Development of new Thai generation in the 21st century emphasizes on applying what we have learned in from the past to present and develop it for the future with the development of Governance based model of learning competency assessment. The assessment is aimed for competency development regarding emotion management, change management, society and communication towards the future, creation of value and innovation, administration beneficial to oneself and organization, and preparation for rapidly changing world. That is, the focus on learner will be shifted to learning, teacher to facilitator, and individual part to the whole picture.
The 6 faculties are working together on Community Based Program with Competency Based Assessment consisting of 3G competencies – Self-Governance (G1), Managerial Governance (G2), and Social Governance (G3) – under the concept “Synergy is a bedrock of innovation for our nation.”
This MOU is the symbol of determination of Faulty of Public Health, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science, and the College of Local Administration to develop academic collaboration and improve knowledge for better quality of people’s lives. Moreover, all 6 faculties are willing to dedicate to achieve goals together.
