KKU Road Show for students offered information about KKU Admission

KKU Road Show provides information about admission to high school students in the Northeast to prepare for pursuing higher education in the university, and the Road Show will visit other 14 provinces 

On November 1, 2019 at Golden Jubilee Convention Hall, Khon Kaen University, activities for promoting and giving guidance on studying in the university to high school students were held. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), Adviser to Acting President, presided over the event. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapansak Chaveerach, Director of Bureau of Academic Administration and Development, remarked opening speech saying that the objectives of this project for the target group were to give guidance to high school students in the Northeast, supervising teachers, and to promote courses offered at Khon Kaen University so that interested people would know the criteria for KKU admission. Courses had been offered in undergraduate and graduate levels. Moreover, KKU aimed to develop closer relationship with schools in the northeastern region.

“We have promoted about our admission to students throughout the past few months. This time is the first and biggest event started before we visit different 14 provinces from November-December 2019. There are 4 rounds of KKU admission according to TCAS 63. The admission criteria in this year are special because of KKU Transformation Policy. Competency of applicants from the Northeast will be evaluated with the new criteria consistent with digital transformation,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapansak Chaveerach.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul revealed the activities corresponded to the policy on distribution of educational opportunities to students in the Northeast, that is, they could have higher opportunity to enroll in undergraduate level. The project also corresponded to the government’s policy on thorough and fair distribution of educational opportunities to students in this region so that students and parents would have information to make a decision. Giving guidance directly to the target was another way to help students and supervising teachers receive correct and clear information regarding admission criteria affecting students’ decision when they chose which university they would apply for.


Assoc. Prof. Charnchai also spoke to the press regarding factors attracting students in each year, “Educational quality of interested field of each student and university’s reputation that may be advantage when finding a job are the main reasons that attract students. Khon Kaen University is in the group of leading universities and internationally recognized. With variety of fields offered to students and perfect environment for studying and living, I believe KKU meet with students’ expectation and can attract them to study here.”

All 3,609 participants from 163 schools in the upper northeastern region were high school students and supervising teachers. After registration, the participants could attend exhibition held by different programs of various faculties. There was also the special talk on “Admission Policy of Khon Kaen University for Academic Year 2020” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, Vice President for Education.

The project for promoting and giving guidance to the target group is going to be held on November 4 at Nongbuapittayakarn School in Nongbualamphu Province, November 5 at Loeipittayakom School in Loei Province, November 7 in Bueng Kan Province, November 8 at Pathumthep Witthayakarn School in Nong Khai Province, November 12 at Piyamaharachalai School in Nakhon Phanom Province, November 13 at Kalasinpittayasan School in Kalasin Province, November 14 at Sarakhampittayakhom School in Mahasarakham Province, November 18 in Mukdahan Province, November 19 in Amnat Charoen Province, November 20 at Yasothonpittayakom School in Yasothon Province, December 9 at Satrichaiyaphum School in Chaiyaphum, December 12 at Sisaketwittayalai School in Sisaket Province, and December 13 at Buriram Pitthayakhom in Burirum Province.
