KKU hosts an “IP INNOVATION DAY: COSMETICS DAY”

KKU Department of Innovation and Enterprise, KKU Intellectual Property Center boasts its achievement in commercializing its beauty products in an exhibition entitled, “IP INNOVATION DAY: COSMETICS DAY”

On 31 July 2019 at Meeting Room 2 of KKU Science Park, The Department of Innovation and Enterprise, KKU Intellectual Property Center hosts a ratification ceremony and press briefing to boast its achievement in commercializing its beauty products in an exhibition entitled, “IP INNOVATION DAY: COSMETICS DAY”. The event chaired by Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmart, an Assistant to the President for Innovation and Enterprise also made a debut of a new project called, The 2ndIP DAY for KKU ALUMNI.

Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmart was quoted during her opening speech, “… with the support of the research base instruction, KKU is able to entitle many innovations from the research finding for patent registration. As a result, the more and more number of potential innovations from KKU have been commercialized by private entrepreneurs. The KKU INNOVATION DAY: COSMATICS DAY is conducted to broadcast the business promising intellectual properties of KKU to the market to attract potential operators who will negotiate with the university about the possibility to use KKU intellectual products for commercial gains. The event also inspires KKU current researchers to conduct higher quality research that can eventually be use for commercial purpose while the idea relating the presentation of the product to the business firms is also empirically presented to KKU researchers. Another objective of KKU Intellectual Property Center is to encourage more research products for the intellectual property legal protection”.

A part of the activities of the day is the ratification of contracts between KKU and the entrepreneurs to whom the concession of the products under KKU patents have been bestowed. Below are lists of companies and the products they are allowed to commercialize. SK Maliwan Company owns a concession to commercialize; facial cleaning, sun screening, anti-wrinkle serum products developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharee, Khun Kitti and a team from the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Big Chemical owns a concession to commercialize; an acne gel with Panchart plant extract developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Napapak Jaipakdee, Faculty of Pharmacy.  Alatus Company owns a concession to commercialize; a soap with Yangna extract, Yangna extracting process, and Yangna product, developed by Dr. Somporn Ketgaew, Faculty of Science. 2B Absolute Beauty Limited owns a concession to commercialize; a soap with Ari Protein and propolis, developed by Professor Dr. Siwilai Sirimungararat, et. all, Faculty of Agriculture
Khun Sumet Martkhao owns a concession to commercialize; a soap with Ari Protein and propolis, developed by Professor Dr. Siwilai Sirimungararat, et. all, Faculty of Agriculture

Professor Dr. Thidarat Boonmart, an assistant to the President for Innovation and Enterprise made a press conference about the organization of the 2nd IP for KKU Alumni which will be held on August 28, and KKU Science Park. She also gave a talk on “The promotion of research work for commercial outcomes”. There was a panel discussion on the topic of, “The chance for the university research results to be commercialized” which was moderated by Ajan Pongpan Sattathip, a lecturer from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy. In the event, there were exhibition of the KKU intellectual products and the beauty products developed from KKU research.
