KKU, Royal Volunteers, and Thai people organize the good deeds activity entitled “KKU Maintains Banyan Tree Park for HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn” on his 67th birthday anniversary
On July 26, 2019 at 8.30 a.m. at KKU Banyan Tree Park, Khon Kaen University organized volunteer activity entitled “KKU Maintains Banyan Tree Park for HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn” with the help from many offices in Khon Kaen University, 904 Royal Volunteers, representatives of governmental offices, community around the university, other organizations, and people in general including students – Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University and Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University (Mordindang). This volunteer work was done on auspicious occasion of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s 67th birthday anniversary on July 28, 2019 to show gratitude to his kindness.
The opening ceremony started at 9 a.m. and was attended by KKU administrators and representatives of university’s offices and other organizations. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (MD), President of Khon Kaen University, opened the cover of the flower bouquet and presented it together with ceremonial candles in front of HM King Rama X’s photograph to express the utmost respect. Then he remarked the opening speech the volunteer activity.
“We all are grateful to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s kindness and concern over well-being of Thai people. Moreover, he has been determined to consolidate stability of the country for Thai people’s peace, and he has preserved as well as continued royal-initiated projects as he stated in his First Royal Command, “We shall preserve, continue, and reign with righteousness for the benefits and happiness of the people forever.” Therefore, Khon Kaen University and related organizations organized volunteer activity for good deeds entitled “KKU Maintains Banyan Tree Park for HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn” This activity is a part of the project hold for celebrating HM King Rama X’s the 67th birthday anniversary on July 28, 2019.”
Next, KKU President led participant in making a vow to do good deeds with the good heart in front of HM King Rama X’s photograph. After that the participants started tidying up the park, planting trees, wedding, and releasing over 1,000 fish, given by Inland Aquaculture Research and Development Regional Center 6 (Khon Kaen), into Sithan Pond in Khon Kaen University. All activities completely finished at 12 p.m.
The location of KKU Banyan Tree Park in Khon Kaen University was a deserted area, but now it was transformed into Banyan Tree Park with tree tunnel and became the new forest in the city. This area also connects KKU Natural Science to KKU Culture Center. The connecting way, covered by the tree tunnel and lifted up 1 meter above the ground, is a bridge with 3 meters wide and 360 meters long. It is KKU Natural Science Track where people can come to learn about nature. However, KKU Banyan Tree Park still needs more maintenance because of shallow pond that may become filthy water and Aedes mosquitoes’ breeding sites. As a result, the pond needs to be deepened to make it flow. The landscape need to be developed properly as an attraction and a place for exercise of people in Khon Kaen. It can be said that this activity is beneficial to Khon Kaen people.
At 6 p.m. at Physical Education Gymnasium, KKU Sport Division, staff and students of Khon Kaen University, representatives of governmental offices and other organizations, and community around KKU attended the King’s blessing ceremony where silver and golden bouquets including tribute were presented on auspicious occasion of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s 67th birthday anniversary. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul presided over and lit the candles for blessing HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun – HM the King Rama X.
