Biofuels and Biochemicals Research Team holds the 2016 Conference for TRF Senior Research Scholars of 2016
June 17, 2019 at Grand Pavillion Room, Rajawadee Resort and Hotel, Khon Kaen – the research team for biofuels and agricultural biochemicals under the Research Promotion Fund for TRF Senior Research Scholar – Prof. Dr. Alisara Ruangsang – held the 3rd annual conference for the research team under the title, “Trends in Biofuels and Biochemicals Research”. The research team was honored to have Prof. Dr. Sompong Khlainongsuang, Deputy Director for budget administration and Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, Acting Vice President for Research and Academic Service of Khon Kaen University to preside over the opening ceremony. The participants including lecturers, researchers and students had a chance to exchange research experiences and approaches for carrying out research in biofuel and biochemical with experts. The conference also aimed at building a research network among researchers of team and the industrial and governmental sectors.
The morning session began with a brief on the 3-year research work outcomes of the senior research scholars by the head of the project, Prof. Dr. Alisara Ruangsang, followed by a special talk by Prof. Dr. Somchat Soponronnarit from King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi on “Situations of Thailand Energy and Management”. The next session was a forum on “Direction of biofuel research under the concept of bio-based economics” by the speakers and experts including Dr. Chaiwat Waewsak from ECoWaste Center of KMUTT; Khun Anan Daengcham from Mitphon Bio-Power Company; Khun Settha Ngammana from IRPC Innovation Center of IRPC Co.Ltd.; Asst. Prof. Dr. Sompong Othong from Thaksin University. The forum moderator was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sumet Chaiprapat from Prince of Songkhla University. The second forum was on “Production of biochemical for New S-Curver Industry” by Prof. Dr. Pimjai Jaiyen from Wittaya Sirimethee Institute; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nattha Thongjun from Chulalongkorn University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khemawit Jantama from Suranaree University of Technology; Dr. Seelapong Bai-ngern from PTT Global Chemical Public nThe afternoon session began with poster presentations by researchers and students followed by the final forum on “Algae Research Development towards Production of Biofuels and Biochemicals” by Prof. Dr. Benjamas Chiansil from Prince of Songkhla University; Dr. Sorawit Phaothongsuk from National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology; Dr. Sopon Sirisattha from Algae Excellence Center. The moderator for this session was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mallika Khongkiatkhajorn from Khon Kaen University. The last activity was presentations of outstanding research work of the team including Asst. Prof. Dr. Prawit Kongjan from Prince of Songkhla University Pattani Campus; Asst. Prof. Dr. Apilak Salakkham from Khon Kaen University and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sureewan Sitthijinda from Mahidol University.
There were 93 participants and 15 speakers joining the conference which was run under a real academic atmosphere. Participants exchanged their viewpoints, knowledge and opinions. The event was a true venue for researchers from governmental and industrial sectors to meet and build collaborative networks that will launch new research work on “biofuels and biochemical” towards the industrial sector in the future. The event also strengthens the competitive potentials of Thailand biofuels and biochemical.
