Srinagarind Day – lengthens lives by supporting excess costs for patients

Faculty of Medicine holds “Srinagarind Day” – ‘Hope and Help’ – mobilizing funds to support patients who cannot pay for the costs on top of their rights

         Faculty of Medicine of Khon Kaen University is ready for “Srinagarind Day” to commemorate Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra. All are invited to donate for Srinagarind Day Fund to assist low-income patients at Srinagarind Hospital whose rights do not cover all costs. More channels for donation are added, such as on mobile phone for more convenience. The program will be broadcast live on July 20 on NBT Channel.

         June 14, 2019 at Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra 89th Anniversary Room, 4th Floor, Faculty of Medicine of Khon Kaen University – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Dean of the faculty and Acting President of Khon Kaen University presided over the press meeting to report on “Srinagarind Day 2019” under the theme – Hope and Help. Mr. Apisit Rujikiatkamjorn, Chairperson for fund mobilizing, Mr. Witoon Suriyawanakul, fund mobilizing advisor and Mr. Jirawut Kuwanan, fund mobilizing chairperson joined in the meeting to give more details.

         Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Dean of the faculty and Acting President of Khon Kaen University said that the events can be categorized into 3 types: 1) merit making by paying homage to Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra and food offerings at the hospital; 2) royal glorification activities toward Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra with exhibitions and special health checks and mobile medical clinic; 3) fund mobilizing activities through the special program on Channel 11, to be broadcast on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 22:00-24:00 p.m. under the theme “Hope and Help: Life is hopeful from the power of giving’. The program also features also walkathon to compete for royal trophies bestowed by Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn which will be in November.  

        Mr. Apisit Rujikiatkamjorn, Chairperson for fund mobilizing said that the work was carried out all through last year. It is great merit for donors to help low-income patients, who will be relieved and happier. Now, more donations are flooding in, so it can be expected that this will be another successful year.    

        Mr. Jirawut Kuwanan, General Manager and Chairman of Kow Yu Ha Motors Co. Ltd. and vice chairperson for fund mobilizing in the private sector said that he received very good cooperation from businessmen, provincial halls of commerce, entrepreneurs, Chinese organizations and private organizations in Khon Kaen and the regional network in the donation.

        Mr. Witoon Suriyawanakul, fund mobilizing advisor explained that this year he accepted this responsibility and have looked at the donating system through technological channels for more convenience of donors such as SMS application. He has coordinated with the telephone networks and asked them to take part. CAT Telecom Public Company Limited as a service provider of mobile phone under the brand “My” assists in offering USSD donating system on mobile phone. Donors can donate for the Srinagarind Day Fund by clicking: USSD *948*3688*100# – One click means donation of 100 baht. This channel of donation begins in July, 2019.

      Besides the great merit, those who donate can submit the receipt for tax reduction at a two-fold rate. Donation from 100,000 baht and over means many benefits as said in the funding regulations. The organizer will invite you to the fund transfer ceremony which will be broadcast on TV. Those donating from 2 million baht can have their names written on the name plate on a patient’s special room on their wish.
