Smart Innovation for a Cleaner Future: KKU Students Triumph with AI-Powered Trash Bin at e-Waste HACK BKK 2024

On September 23, 2024, the “Pak Ka Pok” team, comprised of Ms. Thidalak Muangpan, Mr. Yothin Nantasaen, and Mr. Piyungkul Sarapak, under the expert guidance of their advisor, Assist. Prof. Dr. Daranee Hormdee, triumphed in the “e-Waste HACK BKK 2024” competition, securing first place among university-level part cipants.

Their award-winning project, the Intelligence Bin, is a cutting-edge smart trash bin equipped with a camera system and advanced AI technology to precisely sort waste from other objects. The bin also includes a notification system that alerts when it’s full, offering a smart solution to the escalating problem of urban waste overflow. This innovative product is designed to combat environmental pollution and address public health challenges, especially in major cities.

The Intelligence Bin not only revolutionizes efficient waste sorting but also underscores the pivotal role of technology in creating a more sustainable future and mitigating environmental impact.
