In a remarkable achievement, Mr. Santichai Jansamak, a master’s student in electrical engineering, has clinched the top prize at the prestigious 2024 Higher Education Innovation Award with his cutting-edge project, “KKU AI Measurement: Acetabular Cup Angle.” This revolutionary AI system, designed to precisely measure the angle of a hip implant component, showcases the power of technology in transforming the medical field.
Mr. Santichai’s work was guided by an esteemed team of supervisors, including engineering professors Prof. Dr. Prinya Chindraprasirt, Mr. Aditep Kongchan, and Assoc. Prof. Puripong Suthisopapan, alongside advisors from the Faculty of Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Prin Tawinprai, Dr. Natthapol Tawinprai, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rit Apinyankul, and Dr. Kittikhun Tienthong.
The AI-based software developed by Mr. Santichai is a game-changer in the field of orthopedic surgery. It provides a highly accurate method for measuring the angle of the acetabular cup, a critical component in hip replacement procedures. The technology not only enhances precision but also saves valuable time, reduces the complexity of the surgical process, and improves overall patient safety.
