KKU showcases BCG research that leads to sustainability to a senate commission

May 31, 2024 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise; and Assoc. Prof. Nonglak Meethong, Ph.D., Director of the Battery and New Energy Factory, welcomed the Senate Commission for Budget Administration Monitoring, led by General Chatudom Titthasiri, Chairman of the Commission, on the occasion of the members’ study trip to observe the “Achievements from Budget Expenditure under the National Strategy from Deployment of Bio-Economy, Circulating Economy, and Green Economy Development (BCG Model): in the field of energy, materials and biochemistry” at the Battery and New Energy Factory, Khon Kaen University.

Assoc. Prof. Nonglak Meethong, Ph.D., Director of the Battery and New Energy Factory, Khon Kaen University, presented 2 projects under the energy research and development outcomes, based on the BCG Model, namely, New Energy and Battery Production Project: Lithium Ion Batteries and Technological Development of Sodium Ion Battery Production from Mineral Salt to accommodate potential industry development, alternative energy industry development and the battery industry in the future.


The delegation also visited the Bio-Hythane Prototype Factory. Here, Prof. Alissara Ruangsaeng, Ph.D., a technological researcher of the Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University made the presentation of the factory’s research project to the commission members.
The site visits reflected the readiness of Khon Kaen University as a researcher and innovator incubating source, which will help in driving forward the BCG Model in energy, materials and biochemistry towards sustainable economic development of the country.
