KKU big celebration of the 60th Anniversary with Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open Contest on July 5-8, 2023

Friday July 23, 2023 was filled with the sound of music from the l hear the marching band from Wat Klang Municipal School. The players demonstrated their musical skills at Sarasin Room, 2nd Floor of Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President, Khon Kaen University, reiterating the grandeur while the KKU administrators, led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of the University, released to the press the news of the Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open Contest of 2023.

Khun Sukit Sirinorakul, Chairman of the Khon Kaen University Operational Promotion Committee explained that the Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open 2023 was an initial idea from the University Operational Promotion Committee to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Khon Kaen University.

Khon Kaen University will be joining with the Music and Marching International Art Association to organize this big event. Different marching bands have been invited from all over the country to enter the contest. Up to now, there are 123 musical and marching bands from schools and universities that already applied to join the contest. Among these, there are the marching bands that have received the awards at the international level applying. The number of youths who are members of the applicant bands totals over 1,600 now. There will be over 100 officers working for the event. There will be live broadcast through different media for the whole country to watch.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of the University added that on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Khon Kaen University, the university will hold various activities to celebrate it all through the year. The Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open 2023 is one of the greatest activities for Khon Kaen citizens and is scheduled on July 5-8, 2023.

“I’d like to thank our friends from all sectors, those who have supported and all who are involved in this event. Khon Kaen University is now ready in all aspects to organize this contest. I do hope that in the future, Khon Kaen University will continue to organize such a great event.”  

The Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open 2023 has been planned by Khon Kaen University and Khun Atichat Charoenpachoke, Vice President of the Music and Marching International Art Association. The occasion will also be promoting Thai youths who are keen in music after last year Youth International Musical Contest. Champions from many countries all over the world will be joining too.

Khun Atichat Charoenpachoke, Vice President of the Music and Marching International Art Association said, “This year, if it is not Khon Kaen University, we would not be able to arrange the event and open the chance for Thai youths to demonstrate their skill. I’m grateful to KKU administrators and all supporters. I confirm that July 5-8 this year will be different and at the same time exciting to all. We want to create “Power of Dream and Power of Music.”

In addition, there is another key allying sector, that is, Khon Kaen Municipality represented by Mr. Montree Singhapunnapat, Vice Mayor of Khon Kaen Municipality, who said on behalf of Khon Kaen Municipality that the Municipality is ready to open the city gate to welcome the contesters to the land of Dok Khoon Siang Khaen.

“The contest will help developing and enhancing the competency of students and youths. They will be able to demonstrate their capacities and share their experiences. Meanwhile the occasion will also enhance the economy of Khon Kaen. The Municipality is ready to support in all aspects and hope that the event will be successful.”

Khun Krit Techasamma from the Origin Property (Public Organization), one of the representatives of supporters of this event said that the company believed that the power of the youths and the power of music will promote Thai society to become a quality, happy and pleasant-to-live society. The company therefore gives full support and is also sending artists from the company to give some performances.

Khon Kaen University has planned the following 6 main activities in the Music & Marching Arts International Thailand KKU Open 2023:

1. Concert Band

2. Ensemble

3. Solo

4. Standstill Drumline

5. Marching Parade

6. Marching Arts Theatre

The venues include the Golden Jubilee Convention Center and the Theater of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. Band members will be using the Sports Center for rehearsals. Live broadcast is scheduled all through July 5-8, 2023 on television channels and online media.
