March 29, 2023 at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA – Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Ph.D., DMD., Vice President for International Affairs, Khon Kaen University; Assoc. Prof. Waranuch Pitiphat, Ph.D., DMD., Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; and Assoc. Prof. Teekayu Balangkoon Jorns, Ph.D., DMD., Vice Dean for Research, Graduate Study and International Relation of the Faculty of Dentistry, attended the Global Symposium at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA. The KKU delegates then, on this occasion, discussed academic and research collaboration with Dr. William Giannobile, Dean of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, after which the delegation team was warmly welcomed by lecturers of Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In fact, Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati, Ph.D., DMD and Assoc. Prof. Waranuch Pitiphat, Ph.D., DMD were graduates from Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
The Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, used to sign an MOU with Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2014, after which continuous activities were carried out between the two institutions, both in research and academic. There is another lecturer of the Faculty, Dr. Puttatida Wangsrimongkhon, graduating from Harvard School of Dental Medicine at the doctorate level. The Faculty has invited lecturers from HSDM to lecture at KKU in different topics both online and onsite, and at the same time, lecturers and graduate students of KKU have been to HSDM under the exchange program between the 2 institutions. There has also been collaboration in continuing education through online instruction. The visit and discussion this time with Harvard School of Dental Medicine will lead to a chance for further academic and innovative exchange in the field of dentistry in addition to research in dentistry that has been advancing rapidly. The discussion went on for planning of collaborative activities that will be carried out soon.
