October 20, 2022 at 14:00 p.m. – Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relation; Asst. Prof. Phakwilai Srisaeng, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Assoc. Prof. Julaporn Tungphakdee, Ph.D., Assistant to the Nursing Dean for Student Development and International Relation; and Mrs. Jetsadaporn Sriratanaprapan, Acting Director of the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation welcomed Khun Chalermchai Wongnakphet, General Manager of Inter Water Treatment Co. Ltd. and an honorable member of the University Council; the Wongnakphet family; and 8 scholarship awardees. The event was held at Kalaphruek Room 5, Sirikunakorn Building.
Mrs. Jetsadaporn Sriratanaprapan, Acting Director of the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation reported to the news correspondent that Khon Kaen University has a mission to develop the human resource that is important for national socio-economic development. Thus, the University always attempts to locate and provide scholarships for students. Organizations both governmental and private have donated scholarships to support good-academic students who need monetary support for their studies. These scholarships are without any condition, and are granted to the students during the academic year 2022. Khun Chalermchai Wongnakphet, General Manager of Inter Water Treatment Co. Ltd. and his team joined the scholarship awarding ceremony. There are 9 scholarships, totaling an amount of 482,000 baht.
Khun Chalermchai Wongnakphet, General Manager of Inter Water Treatment Co. Ltd. and an honorable member of Khon Kaen University Council explained that he represented the scholarship granters to give 4 scholarships to the awarded students today. The 4 scholarships are Pongkit-Parichat Sutthipong scholarships, allowance scholarship by the Inter Water Treatment Co. Ltd., Phra Boonsong Wisuttho scholarship and tuition fee scholarships from the Wongnakphet family. Khun Pongkit Sutthipong is an alumnus of Engineering Faculty, Class 13, and is a close friend of Khun Chalermchai. Khun Pongkit has many friends who are professional nurses and therefore the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing was asked to select 4 students from the faculty who have good academic records but need support. The only objective is for the awarded students to work as professional nurses and help patients. They do not have to be a nurse for their whole life, but at least during a period of time.
The scholarship by Phra Boonsong Wisuttho is for a student of the Faculty of Education for the whole program of studies. The intention of Luang Ta is for the student to become a teacher and teach young people. Luang Ta used to be a government official and entered monkhood at the age of 52. Now, Luang Ta has been a monk for over 30 years, as a practice monk. He would like people to listen to Buddhism preach, and said that it is not difficult to find the decent route in dhamma as a layman.
The allowance scholarship is granted by the Inter Water Treatment Co. Ltd., for a period of 24 months. This allowance is given without any condition. The granter wants to pay back to the society and believes that students under a program should not be in trouble due to lack of money, so that the student will become a quality person for the country in the future.
The last scholarship, by the Wongnakphet family used to be granted to students who already graduated, and this is another one of its kind. The scholarship is without any condition. The granter only wants the awardee to be a good person in the society and to hold on to Lord Buddha’s preach, to hold on to the 5 percepts and dhamma for layman. Whoever acts under the said percepts is a good person.“We want the awardee to be a good person and can rely on one’s own after graduation. If you have a chance, you may assist younger students. This will at least upgrade the quality of people around you. Please study with good attention and the good future will be out there waiting for you. We wish you success as you expect,” said Khun Chalermchai.
Miss Tanatcha Konthong, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy (from Srisaket) expressed her feeling from being awarded. She did not expect to receive the scholarship. Her mother was ill and her elder brother has a brain disease. Her house was taken away as her mother did not earn any income and could not pay for the house. She is therefore working to support herself for the study. She is very happy to receive the scholarship, which will make her life better. She can now focus more on the studies. Because her mother passed away, she takes responsibility over the family. She expects that when she graduates, she will be able to pay back by doing the best she can. She will give a scholarship to younger students every year.”
