July 5, 2022 – Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University and Kud Namsai Sub-district Municipality, Muangwan Sub-district Administrative Organization, Ban Kham Sub-district Administrative Organization, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen; Pensuk Sub-district Administrative Organization, Jom Phra District, Surin; held an MOU signing ceremony to create a social implementation zone and set art-based activity plans under the Art for All Project of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts that is aimed at creating a model community according to the strategic plan of the Faculty. The MOU signing ceremony was held at Buddhasilpa Buidling, Cultural Center, Khon Kaen University.
The distinguished representatives signing the MOU were: Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts; Mr. Wirat Yensabai, President of Kud Namsai Sub-district Municipality, Mr. Panithan Prungkhamma, General Secretary of Muangwan Sub-district Administrative Organization (the representative); Mr. Nitiwatt Nithinantharn, President of Ban Kham Sub-district Administrative Organization; and Mr. Pitak Saenkla, President of Pensuk Sub-district Administrative Organization.
The collaboration under this MOU among the 4 sub-districts and 2 provinces is to create research and public service cooperation in arts, which will lead to development and upgrading of economic and social levels based on works of art, exchange of knowledge, rehabilitation, creation, and fostering of arts and cultures of the communities that join, as well as developing the community as a local art learning resource.
Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts said, “The collaboration between the Faculty and the communities to create social working areas will help expand the research studies and art creativity from the University to the communities and will result in benefits in many aspects, especially in research development and art works that are associated with the local contexts. The works can be extended and build true benefits to the communities, with values added to the communities’ economy.”
Ajarn Pachaya Akkaphram, Assistant to the Dean for Research and Academic Service and the Chairman of the Art for All Project explained about the collaboration. “The collaboration is under the principle strategy and mission of the Faculty. During the past year, the Faculty was working on site with 3 sub-districts in Nam Phong Sub-district, Khon Kaen, under the U2T Project and 1 Sub-district in Jom Phra District, Surin. The collaboration was well cooperated and outstanding work outcomes were made. The works enhanced socio-economic strengths in the communities, especially in local arts and cultures. From last year, an idea of setting a Social Lab emerged for co-development of work and for driving forward the community economy based on art works. This will be another stage for lecturers, students and staff to promote, develop, and support different activities in the communities for long-term sustainability.”
