Khon Kaen University President chaired the 1st /2022 Meeting for University Excellence

January 14, 2022 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the first meeting of 2022 for the university administration towards excellence – Thailand Quality Class (TQC). Participants included the University administrators, the members of the Excellence University Committee, Director of the Office of the President and Director of the Education Quality Development Division. The meeting was held online by Zoom Program. The agendum to be discussed was the institutional internal quality assessment.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University related that this meeting was on the work under the education quality assurance or EdPEx. Khon Kaen University has just been evaluated by the evaluators from OHEC. At this meeting, a report on the results of the evaluation was taken to consideration, to discuss the viewpoints and recommendations of the OHEC Evaluation Committee. There were both the part that the Committee appreciated KKU operations and the part suggested for KKU to improve. Overall the 2020 evaluation score was higher than the previous years. The score obtained was 409 points. What was obvious for the increasing score was from Section 1, Organizational leading and Section 7 The work outcomes. Scores of other parts more or less increased or decreased, or remained the same such as the Mapping Section. The part to be improved is the Customer Section.

The President went on to explain that the Committee analyzed the part dealing with property for improvement in particular. “There were 2 parts for this to be carried out: 1) The results will be reported at the University Administrative Committee where all deans attend so that each faculty will take the recommendations to plan for improvements. 2) The University will make plans for improvements according to the recommendations with Vice Presidents taking responsibilities for each respective subject and to return to draft the plans together. This should be done early so that at the end of next year, we would achieve better work results. Another issue was that the Committee suggested we move from TQC to TQC Plus, on seeing our potentialities. The Committee asked for some time to make decision if we are going to start it this year or next year, and which subject we should select, such as innovation, operation, or human resources. We haven’t made decision on this. Personally I think what we scored highest was the implementation process. We might not carry out this this year, but we are going to stabilize the base because for TQC Plus, we need to score 450. The results last time show we still have some gap in the score we need to climb up in order to reach TQC Plus. Any progress on the implementation in this regard will be reported in due course.”
