Congratulations to Jiramet Phrueksawan, Thanai Mahakaew, Surat Kornjak, Napassawan Boonkong, 4th year students majoring in Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University whose work, WCT (H) REE- STONE, won the first prize from the Friendly WC Design Competition, and were awarded a prize worth 50,000 cash and a certificate. Another graduate level student of the Faculty received the honorary mention award: Miss Kanthasorn Lonkhunthod, from the field of Architecture, receiving a prize of 5,000 baht and a certificate. The winners and the Faculty thank Assoc. Prof. Kullasri Tungsakul; Ajarn Sininat Khotruchin, Ph.D., Asst. Prof. Chanthanee Jirunthanat, Ph.D., who were the students’ supervisors.
The objectives of this project are for the competitors to design the prototype for public toilets that can be adjusted for use in various and different public areas, to instill Thai youths in caring and developing good quality of life for people in the society, to enhance knowledge, understanding and awareness of the importance of friendly design for all. More importantly, the winning designs can be further developed and constructed as the “Universal-design WC for all” in real areas, which will benefit the country and social development.
